And so it begins...

Today is the day we begin our hatch process here in Room 4. Everyone is pretty excited - we have the MOST eggs we've ever had in the incubator. The past two years we have only had 12 eggs...this year, we've got 24 eggs!!! We are hoping that means a lot more baby chicks.
Our eggs have arrived! We have 8 blue/green eggs, 3 dark brown eggs, and  13 lighter brown eggs. I wonder which eggs will hatch brown chicks? Which ones will hatch yellow chicks? Will we have another black chick this year?
The eggs are ready to go - we are using two thermometers this year...just to be sure that our temperature is correct!

Starting tomorrow we will count down from 21 to hatch day!

This is so everyone knows where to find the incubator in our classroom.

Someone in our room will be assigned the job of "Chick helper" every week. Their job will be to update this sign, we will cross each day off as it passes.

This sign is up so everyone knows all of the important information about our eggs.

We will use this sign to show everyone what is going on inside our eggs each day in the incubator.

This countdown is in the hallway for everyone to see!

We are super excited about going through this process with you. As always, we love as much feedback as possible. We will update the blog every day. You will get to see which projects we are doing, what we are learning about, what we are excited about and most important....once the chicks hatch you will get to see us playing with them and taking care of them.

Don't forget to vote on the chicks due date on the side of this page!
